Sarasota High School
Sarasota High School, located just South of Downtown Sarasota within the city limits, and just off US-41, offers great programs for furthering your young scholars' education. Sarasota High is a Circus Magnet School, and an A-rated University of Cambridge AICE (Advanced International Certificate of Education) School, which also offers Advanced Placement, Honors classes, and 8 different "Carrer and Technical Education" programs to follow that result in official career certifications. "One recent grad of this high school was awarded over 50 college credits at UF as an incoming Freshman" due to the opportunities available at SHS.
Sarasota High School was designed in the style of Florida Modernism by Paul Rudolph, the famed Sarasota School of Architecture Architect who went on to design homes and buildings around the world. The previous SHS building was designed by M. Leo Elliott in 1926 and is now known as the Sarasota Art Museum which sits right on US-41 South of Downtown Sarasota, in front of the current SHS.
Sarasota High School has great opportunities for visual arts studies- including fine crafts, ceramics, sculpture, drawing & painting, photography, and animation. SHS is also home to the Sarasota High Sailors sports programs famous for Baseball, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, Golf, and of course Football! Graduates of SHS have gone on to be MLB, NFL, and NBA players, and even a PGA Championship winner! Go Sailors!
