Brookside Middle school
Brookside Middle School, located off of Bee Ridge Road near the Southgate community in Sarasota, FL, is an extremely knowledge-diverse school which offers a variety of specialized curriculum and programs. Brookside will now start becoming the new Gulf Coast Academy of Innovation and Technology in the 2026-2027 school year for incoming 6th graders, which then will expand to 7th and 8th graders in the subsequent years which will focus on AI (Artificial Intelligence), machines, IT (Information Technology), gaming, and cybersecurity. Brookside currently offers an IB (International Baccalaureate) program for high-achieving students as an IB magnet school, another magnet program as MSA (Marine Science Academy) offering in-school and field experiences for studying the ocean and Florida's waterways, wetland, and community, a Gifted and Talented program also for high-achieving students, CAT (Creative Arts Technology) for students who excel in creative and performing arts, and TLC (The Learning Center) for individualized learning plans. Brookside also has sports teams for Basketball, Track, Golf, Tennis, and Volleyball. Go Barracudas!
